Valencia

Posted on January 20, 2023January 20, 2023

4th January – 7th January 2023

How I got there

High speed train (320KM an hour) from Madrid, 2 hours travel time.

Background on Valencia

Valencia is a City on the Southeastern cost on the Mediterranean Sea, it dates back to the romans in 100 BC.

Where I Stayed

Hotel Valencia Center; Centrally located between the Old Town & the Port €130 a night.

What I did

Little did I know Spain Celebrates 3 Kings Day on the 6th of January, which meant being a Christian Holiday everything was closed, it was a funny feeling walking out of the Hotel and everything is closed!

3 Kings Day is where children that have been good leave their shoes at the door and the 3 Wise Kings fill their shoes with small gifts.

Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (The City Arts and Science Complex)

Is a complex of 7 buildings built in the 90’s, they house a range of attractions from the Opera House to Museums. I have never seen so many different and beautiful buildings in one space.

The featured image on this post is Opera House (Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía) and Planetarium (L’Hemisfèric).

Visited a Garden that has recently opened to the people that have died during the COVID-19 Pandemic. (Photos below)

Old Town

Visited Valencia Cathedral, dates back to the 1200’s. Lots of nice Cafe’s and Orange Trees on the side of the road.

Valencia Port

Visited the Port of Valencia, it hosted the 2007 America Cup, is beautifully presented.

Lots of interesting facts that I had never heard of. Jeez you must be wealthy with what you are paying a night.

If only, things aren’t the same in Europe anymore, Hotels are very expensive for something basic.
